When you find yourself driving on an icy or snowy road, up to 50 percent of the vehicle’s remaining power goes to the front wheels, thereby turning your rear wheel drive into a more reliable all wheel drive vehicle. It provides you with all the safety and traction of a heavy all wheel drive car or truck, but only for as long as you need it. Once you’re back on a dry road, your car can go back to being a rear wheel drive vehicle.
